Longfellow Students Share Research

Longfellow 5th graders presented their YardScaping knowledge to family, friends, and community members. Attendees asked questions, participated in demonstration activities, and took home handouts and soil test kits so they could begin making stormwater and YardScaping improvements to their own yards.

The students presented on:

  • Watersheds & Stormwater Infrastructure

  • Healthy Soils

  • Pest Management

  • Building Organic Matter

  • Water Infiltration

  • Water Conservation

  • Soil & Water Pollutants

  • Site Design

  • Growing Plants

  • Rain Garden

  • Erosion

This amazing unit is funded by the City of Portland through the Greener Neighborhoods Cleaner Streams program and taught by the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District.
